In my 15 years of life, I came close to death twice. Ironically, both had to do with me drowning.
The first happened when I was 4 or 5 years old (I can't remember which). Every now and then my family would go to a nearby pond to go swimming. One of those days a friend of my parents went with. I didn't know how to swim at the time so I stayed in the shallows. My parents' friend, who denies this by the way, convinced me that if I jumped into the deep water I would be fine... As you can guess, I wasn't. I immediately sunk to the bottom. The water was only 5 feet deep, so my dad was able to get me out easily, but none-the-less, I still came close to death that day.
The second happened when I was 8 years old. My family and I were at a friends house for a Pig Roast. Once again, this was before I learned how to swim, which was, incidentally, a few months after this incident. The pool was 4-1/2 to 5 feet deep and I accidentally let go of the side, causing me to sink into the water. For reasons I still don't understand, all of the adults, who knew I couldn't swim, thought that I was just fooling around. Needless to say, I managed to get back to the side of the pool and saved my own life.
I know that all of those that claim to have had a near-death experience will say that when you are close to death you see a bright light at the end of a long tunnel... This is a lie. The truth is that you don't see anything. It just makes it seem like evey second lasts an eternity... Ever since those experiences, I have been able to sense the presence of spirits and every now and then I can hear them, but only for a brief moment... I will post more on this in the Personal Experiences board later.
